Our Story

Spanish oil, filled in India

BONO is extra virgin olive oil from Spain. The olives are grown and pressed there. The oil comes to India, and we fill it into a chef-grade squeeze bottle ourselves, here in India, instead of importing the usual glass bottle.

That last part matters more than it sounds. Most olive oil in Indian kitchens sits in a heavy bottle at the back of a shelf, gets used twice a month for something special, and is half rancid by the time it is finished. A squeeze bottle with a fine nozzle changes the behaviour completely. It lives next to the stove. You reach for it without thinking. You use it up while it is still good.

Filling it here is also what makes that possible. Nobody in Spain was going to package olive oil for how an Indian kitchen actually cooks, so we do that part ourselves.

Why a squeeze bottle

A glass bottle pours a glug. You cannot control it, so you either over-pour or you hesitate and under-use the oil entirely. The nozzle on a BONO bottle gives you a thread, a line you can lay exactly where you want it, across a dal, around the edge of a salad, over toast.

The bottle is opaque for a practical reason too. Light is what kills olive oil fastest. A dark squeeze bottle means the last drizzle tastes close to the first.

Never blended

A lot of what is sold as olive oil in India is a blend: olive oil cut with cheaper refined oils, or oil from several countries pooled together and labelled loosely. BONO is Spanish extra virgin olive oil. Nothing is added to it and nothing is mixed in.

Who is behind it

BONO is built by a small team in Nagpur, out of a family that has spent five decades in distribution across central India. We know what it takes to get a product onto a shelf and keep it moving. We wanted to put that behind something we would actually use every day.

Premium quality. Relaxed attitude. Drizzle freely.
